More international exhibitors, leading trend information, high-energy venue
DALLAS – March 10, 2010 – Market Center Management Company (MCMC), the management company of GlobalTex: LA International Textile & Sourcing Fair™, today announced that the third edition of GlobalTex held March 2-4 at the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC), proved a success. The show delivered more buyers and featured more international resources than ever with leading trend information in a high-energy venue.
“We are pleased with the increase in buyer attendance and in international resources from more than 20 countries,” said Bill Winsor, president and CEO, Market Center Management Company. “Attendance was strong and people were pleased. As we look forward to the September edition our plan is to continue to expand offerings and deliver a high-quality show.”
GlobalTex welcomed more than 2,000 attendees from 22 countries and 28 states including an increase from the southeast U.S. as well as 135 exhibitors during the three-day show. Just a few of the designers and major stores that attended include: 7 For All Mankind, American Apparel, Bebe, Izod, Jessica McClintock, Joe’s Jeans, Karen Kane, Limited Brands, Tadashi, The Walt Disney Company, Trina Turk, UGG Australia and Wet Seal.
“GlobalTex is taking things to the next level on the West Coast,” said Phil Fox, founder of Fox Fabrics. “The show delivered a good mix of key buyers in a professional and well-organized venue. I’m looking forward to the next edition.”
The show featured a more than 35 percent increase in high-end international resources. Twenty-two countries were represented: Bangladesh, Belgium, Canada, China, Colombia, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Pakistan, Portugal, Spain, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Vietnam. Categories that saw increases include: lace and trim, accessories, and creative textiles and prints.
In addition to more resources, GlobalTex welcomed more than 10 trade associations and consulates that visited the show to plan for September including: Associacao Selectiva Monda (Portugal), Bangladeshi Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters’ Association, Brazilian Consulate, Hangzhou Silk & Women’s Wear Group, Indian Powerloom Development & Export Promotion Council, Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporter Associations (ITKIB), The Vietnam National Textile & Garment Group, and Vietnam Textile & Apparel Association.
Exclusive trend partner Mudpie, along with the GlobalTex visual design team, provided attendees with the highest level of international trend intelligence. Mudpie provided two services: directional trend displays and seminars. In addition, Mudpie provided attendees the opportunity to purchase its trend books and online forecasting. Mudpie’s mission is to design, distribute, sell and promote the world’s leading trend information within printed products, online services and design consultancy.

Hundreds of attendees attended more than a dozen seminars and networking opportunities that were held throughout the show, discussing upcoming trends and relevant business insights.
